Key Issues Highlighted by the Customer
1. Unilateral Rescheduling of Loan
Mr. Dange alleges that during the COVID-19 period, his loan account was restructured without his verbal or written consent, extending the tenure from 60 to 84 months and increasing the EMI from ₹18,772 to ₹19,002.
“How can such critical changes be made without even informing the customer?”, he questions in the complaint.
2. Missing Loan Documents
Despite taking the loan in 2020, the customer claims he has never received the sanction letter, loan agreement, or disbursement letter from the bank.
3. Cash EMI Collection Without Receipt
The complaint further states that a recovery executive named Mr. Kiran Sonkamble collected ₹56,316 (3 EMIs) in cash from the customer’s home without providing any receipt. Follow-ups with collection manager Mr. Ravi Hingane reportedly went unanswered.
4. Unprofessional Staff Behaviour
During a personal visit to the HDFC Bank branch, Mr. Dange claims he was treated disrespectfully. The bank staff allegedly refused to escalate the issue or provide contact information for senior officials.
5. Lack of Transparency and Follow-up
Despite multiple efforts, the customer has not received:
- A clear explanation of the loan rescheduling
- Any written communication confirming the changes
- Answers from the collections or branch team
What the Customer is Demanding
Mr. Dange has listed four specific requests for HDFC Bank:
- A detailed explanation of why the loan was rescheduled without his consent
- Access to the original loan sanction letter and agreement
- Restoration of the original EMI and tenure terms
- Consideration of his financial hardship in resolving the EMI burden
He also warned that he will escalate the issue to Consumer Court if HDFC Bank fails to take immediate corrective action.
