Details of the Complaint

Mr. Lokendra Singh, a certified data analytics professional, recently traveled to Udaipur with friends and booked a self drive vehicle via ZoomCar. According to his LinkedIn post, the trip itself went smoothly. However, the situation turned serious during the return of the vehicle.

As per the complaint:

  • Mr. Singh returned the car alone, as his colleagues had already left.
  • At the return point, he was approached by two unidentified individuals claiming to be representatives of ZoomCar.
  • These individuals showed him a fake traffic challan worth ₹10,000, accusing him of drunk driving and seatbelt violations.
  • Concerned, Mr. Singh immediately verified the challan with the Udaipur Traffic Police, who confirmed that no such challan existed.
  • Despite this, additional men were allegedly called to the location, and he was intimidated and forced to pay ₹13,383.50 on the spot.
  • Further, an extra ₹3,000 was demanded for engine cover damage, citing the absence of pre-trip photographs.
  • Mr. Singh filed a formal complaint with ZoomCar’s customer support, attaching all evidence, but has not received any response.

  • Alleged coercion and threats during vehicle handover
